Shorts Go Glam in the Loop

July 19, 2010

I spotted Shia (sorry if I'm butchering your name!) while shopping at--don't judge me-- Forever 21. Her stature, chic style, and the nonchalance of her pose makes me wonder if I had a M.O.D. on my hands.

Beach Bum in the Loop

My boyfriend Kody, dressed for sun and leisure in low-key button down and rolled pants, on his way home from long day at Ohio Street Beach.

Welcome to the Gun Show in the Loop

Standing in line behind Coni, I immediately noticed her back-button blouse. It's a vintage style from the late 70s, when Victorian-inspired fashions were in. Coni wears hers with a modern and chic denim pencil skirt.

Loud and Proud Colors at Pride

June 28, 2010

I spotted this adorable retro outfit while enjoying the gay festivities of Pride with my GBF. I just love that the trend for shorts is moving towards longer length-- it's so nice to NOT see cheeks hanging out all over the place!

Summer: Styled in Bucktown

June 22, 2010

As promised:  pictures from the photo shoot I styled for Melinda Jane Myers!

The theme is pure summer, with a East Coast feel and a hint of retro charm.  And the best part?  I pulled all the looks from my own closet!

Boyfriend jeans and suspenders.

Rosie the Riveter headscarf and high-waisted shorts.

Beaded tank and Yoko shades.

100th post: Lolita on the Mag Mile

June 20, 2010

A very subtle outfit, with the top detail of her stockings just peeking out of her skirt. Adorable.

Blues Superlatives in Grant Park

June 15, 2010
Thanks for bearing with me as I wait for internet to be set up in my new apartment!  I also apologize for the delay on the pictures from the photo shoot… I hope to have them by the end of the week!
But for now, here are some fun pictures from the Chicago Blues Fest!

"Most Boogey-Woogey Friendly Outfit" Simple, comfortable, but cute!

In Her 50s in Bucktown

June 4, 2010

Funny story: I was admiring this girl's tassel earrings and 50s-inspired look on the bus, but I needed to save the last bit of juice in my camera battery for the photo shoot I was on my way to style. As fate would have it, we ended up at the same place because this young lady's friend was the model!

Here's a teaser from our photo shoot. Check back Monday for more!

Bohemian Wrapsody in Pilsen

June 1, 2010

The thing that I love most about this look is that it has a serious boho vibe, without feeling overdone, Urban Outfitters, or "so last three summers". Coming in a close second is the fabulous use of texture.
